***This is an adendment to the Water Prject, Shelly,Michelle,Jackie,Norma
are the other group members.
My artist is Buster Simpson. He has proposed solutions to both water
coservation and pollution. His project "Downspout 1978" is located in the
Pike street market in Seattle. What he did was to attach elbow pipes to
already existing down spouts from the roof. In these pipes he grew ferns
and created "virtical landscapes." At the same time he put lime stone in
the elbow of the pipe, this helped reduce the acidicy of the water before
it reached the storm sewer system. He made ideal environments for the
plants, and at the same time helped with the problem of polution in the
water.
