Hi Mark, you are exaxtly right about all human structures becoming part of
the environment. I guess what I hope to see being taught at this point is
an awareness of "sustainability" and lowering our impact with the
structures we build. I have a friend who builds strawbale and cordwood
houses and besides being solar and trying to use as little fossil energy as
possible, he plants a "living roof" to replicate and replace the footprint
of the ground taken over by the building, merely raising the ecological
system into the air. Wouldn't work for a full range of species, but it's a
step in the right direction!--Lynne
