In light of recent discussions regarding nudes and the need to enable our
students (and selves!) to become more aware of the effect pop culture has on
all of us, I HIGHLY agree with Katherine and John's recommendation to read
Berger's "Ways of Seeing." I used it in a course with non-art majors and it
truly sheds light on and questions historical constructs to issues such as
nudes, the (male) gaze, advertising, et al. And it's an easy, "fun" read!
