Interesting thoughts and comments on the subject of feminism and nudes in
art....
The student's questioning why most nudes are female is an astute one, and one
in which we might consider questioning with our students. While it IS
unfortunate that nudes in general are quite taboo in our country, it seems
important and relevant especially in today's world to question why there are
so many more female nudes than male... Gender politics and issues of power
and control certainly have something to do with it, and might we be missing a
great teachable moment to not address these issues with our students?
