Recently I tried a little experiment at my school, where I sent
surveys to the academics teachers, asking them how they felt about the Fine
Arts and what they would like to see happen in the future. The (long)
survey was designed to really make them think out their opinions and
motivations, hopefully arriving at the conclusion that visual art is much
more than Thanksgiving-Hand- Turkeys, but rather central to students'
entire education and development.
The returned surveys seem to indicate that, after the subliminal,
coercive reflection that they were forced to participate in, most teachers
found that the visual art program at their own school was significantly
more vital than they had previously considered. They also seem more
committed to supporting the art program here.
My problem: I want to justify this survey as actual research, but
I need some good references to do so. I need something that describes how
filling out leading-question-type questionares can cause participants to
become more invested in the subject matter, just like with the Publishers'
Clearing House example.
Does anyone out there have such a source? Does anyone out there
advertise? Where should I look?
Thank you very much,
