Hi Ann Marie,

I would use the wire as a frame. Then put the paper in paper mache goo and
lay it on the frame. The first thing that popped into my mind was to make a
tree. With all the different colors and textures it would be striking. One
big tree may present structural difficulties, so you might have every student
make their own tree. Then you would have a small forest. In addition, I
would make a sign or series of signs with ecological info on trees, using the
hand made paper again. I wold include info on how many trees are cut down
yearly or daily, what percentage is recycled, how long it takes for a tree to
reach the maturity of those usually cut down, other reasons why trees are cut
down, that sort of thing. I would use letters from newspaper and magazines
for the print of these messages, as it is more recycling and would be
visually interesting. You might also include Ron Hirschi's info on trees
talking.

Say, does any one know if there is grove of aspen trees in Colorado that
share the same root system? It was mentioned in the film Phenomenon with
John Travolta.
