Some Australian Aboriginal art uses points or dots to construct the
image but the traditional art was done that way as there were no
brushes, just the end of a stick dipped in the ochre. Pointalism I
think was an attempt to break down an image into its smallest
component.. Computers do that with the pixels. Probably if computers
had been around in Serat's day the process would not have been tried.
Enlarge a coloured newspaper photograph too and make the comparison.
