Dear Group,

I am a graduate student, specializing in interdisciplinary uses of
collections at academic art museums. As I am in the preliminary stages of
my thesis, I find myself grappling with still unwieldy elements. I write
to request your assistance. Answers to the questions, posed below, should
help me grasp one of the more slippery elements. Your replies would be of
immense help, as I am only contacting you and a small group of professors
with this survey.

Since we find ourselves in a group originating with DBAE, I guess we have
all considered the meaning of the word 'discipline'. How do you define a
discipline? What's your definition of interdisciplinary? How do you
differentiate between 'interdisciplinary', 'multidisciplinary',
'cross-disciplinary'?

If you could reccomend anything you've read and found useful on this topic
- - I'd very much appreciate those reccomendations as well.

Sincerely, K.Giltinan
