Mine is the word, "eyeballs." Kindergarteners think it is hysterically funny
when I say, "Can I have your eyeballs, please." And they know its a time to
listen. John Holt, the late wonderful writer on education, would write the
letter "Q" on the board and draw a box around it. The kids knew that buy the
time he finished the box, they would have to be ready to listen.
