I have the requirment to teach (instruct!!!)
mature teacher education student undertaking a unit in Technology
Studies, to draw using the 2 point perspective method.
It is very difficult to have people who always have drawn a box by
drawing a square first to see the 3D image. I believe that Professor
Norman Freeman of the University of Bristol in the UK has done much
research on the evolutioin of the perspictive drawing.
He has some fascinating information on the way children's drawing of
a box shape evolve.
I believe thatthis development, like the baseline
that Betty Edwards refers to, interfers with any attempts to teach
perspective.
To those of us who can draw like this, it seems so elementary, But
try teaching it to adults who have never drawn this way!
You win some but with others sometimes you think that they will
never"get it".
