HI, Teri,

I love music too and I play it ALL THE TIME in class (middle school). One
of my favorites is instrumental sax mood music (but not Kenny G). If I have
a really hoppin' class, I settle them down with a tape called MUSIC FOR
EXPECTANT MOTHERS which is so mellow it can put you to sleep (I can't play
that for 1st Period because they WOULD fall asleep!). I guess my all-time
favorite is Tracy Chapman's new tape (can't remember the title) but it's
the only one with words I'll play. I also like soft jazz. The kids don't
have too much choice in music selections...but they don't grumble because
they know the alternative which is none and I'm the only teacher who'll
play CD's for them! For some of the 7th, 8th grade classes, they dislike
60's music because, as they say, it's not hella cool!! In northern
California, that means not "super" cool! Although in my class they're
suppose to say "hecka".

Talkin' about 60"s music. I was discussing types of dancing with the kids
and much to my surprise they had never hear of the "stroll". Well, they
know it now because we spent 10 minutes during class workin' on our
"stroll", BANDSTAND style! I turned on some 60's stuff and we had a wild
time!...then it was back to EXPECTANT MOTHERS!

Love it........Bunki
