Hello everyone!
I feel like an isolated midwesterner having to ask this question, which I am
guessing that many of you have resolved long ago. But, here goes -- how do
you deal with violent images in student artwork? I have had my students write
and illustrate books for ages, but the level of violence in their stories has
sharply increased. I have tried ignoring it, stating my uneasiness with it,
outlawing it and various stances inbetween -- none of which am I happy with.
What about gang symbols? We are only recently dealing with this, and I am so
