Dear Grand94,
You don't say what age level, but considering Spanish is involved, I'll
assume middle or high school. What about variations on the theme of war?
Spanish and Art: Goya's "Romantic" images, Picasso's Guernica (abstract),
the Mexican Expressionist muralists. Literature: Red Badge of Courage,
(Realism) or A Tale of Two Cities or something by Ernest Hemingway if you
want to stay with the Spanish aspect. Virtually ANY period of history, but
preferably some time between the Napoleonic wars and WWI, and Music:
perhaps, Beethoven's Eroica, originally written to honor Napoleon, or the
Marseillase (sp?) or some martial band music or possibly propaganda war
songs. Or for a real contemporary flavor, songs from Miss Saigon or Les
Miserables that fit the theme. Or there is probably some great Spanish
music from the 1775-1914 period. You could compare civil war, revolution
and international conflicts in this unit as well. Does this help?
