I read the current page of your blog and really liked the collection of aphorisms there. Did
you hear this on NPR a couple of weeks ago: "Rosa sat, so Martin could walk. Martin walked,
so Obama can run. Obama is running, so our children can fly." I don't know who said it;
maybe someone interviewed on the street. I've changed it to the past tense (so Obama could
run...Obama ran...) and am offering it as the topic of an essay for my students. An
Ecuadorian teacher really loved it and is trying to translate it so it keeps the poetry of the
message.
Betty, I'm sorry your school environment precludes the joy and happiness you are feeling.
Please know that here in Quito, it's quite the opposite!
