New Mexico artist, David Drummond, was honored to design this years
White House Christmas Card. David is of course the father of the
famous Jae Drummond of Albuquerque. Jae posted the news about her dad
on her blog "Value Added Paper". This mornings Albuquerque Journal
carried the news at the top of it's front page. David has a phd in
Physics but retired 20 years ago to paint. He is most famous for his
watercolors of Lake Powell. David's original painting "East
Colonnade" will be placed in the White House art collection along
with work by Norman Rockwell and John Singer Sargent.
David will be doing a demo at the January 21st meeting of
the New Mexico Watercolor Society on his approach to painting flowers
and clouds. His daughter Jae will demo for the NMWS on June 16th
about how she finishes a painting. Both Jae and her dad are
represented by the Weems Gallery in Albuquerque.
