Carol-
I just finished a Sumi-e project with my 5th graders using only black
watercolor paint. I didn't have the ink - so we improvised. It worked out nicely.
My students even wrote Haiku poems to go along with their paintings. :)

Hi Linda, I might be jumping in late but my prang oval-8's don't have a
white in them. they have a black which i pop out and throw away. on a new note i
just bought liquid water colors and like them but am having trouble using
them in a group of 15 or more students. what do others do? thanks carol
