I also welcome you to NC - you will love this state (I've been here 22 years).
Visit the Mint Museum of Craft + Design as soon as you get there - Awesome.
Our state AEA meeting will be next October in Asheville in the beautiful NC mountains at the peak of "leaf season" - you'll really enjoy that meeting.
If you like sports, Charlotte has a pro football team, the Panthers, who made it to the Super Bowl last year (but are struggling this year) and a first year pro basketball team.
A great city - but beware of the traffic!

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg system is the largest in the state of NC and is quite good, as far as I know. They have an outstanding arts program.Dean Johns is the Director of Arts Programs-a great guy who has won national awards in art education. I know many of the art teachers in the system and they are terrific. Charlotte as a city is very sophisticated and quite supportive of the arts. You will find many sculptures downtown. The Mint Museum is excellent and has many wonderful programs. The school system includes schools which are arts magnets. If you decide you want specific people to talk with, let me know. Welcome to North Carolina-you'll love it here! Also, good luck on National Boards. North Carolina boasts the highest number of nationally certified art teachers in the country. Linda in NC

    Hi Everybody,
I am a K teacher as some of you know, but try hard to incorporate the arts in my classroom. (Although this year has been extremely challenging) I will be moving this summer to Charlotte, NC. I would greatly appreciate any advice about the area school districts. I will be visiting over the Thanksgiving Holidays & then again in Feb during our Mardi Gras Holidays...I am also anxiously awaiting National Board Scores.....Thank you for any help you can offer.
