Another idea for teaching dinosaurs: If the classroom teacher wants to collaborate, then the students could be taught the different time periods of the dinosaurs and which dinosaurs lived in water and which on land. When they create dinosaur pictures in art they can take this information into consideration. I knew a kindergarten teacher who always taught dinosaurs to her classes. She had a big sandbox in the play corner with trees, rocks, and plastic dinosaurs. The children could play whatever they liked within the guidlines that they not put dinosaurs from different time periods together and that land dinosaurs don't go in the water and vice versa. At the end of every class there was a "show and tell" and the students at different centers would explain what they had created.
