my husband thinks this disgusting behavior may be the result of boys
mimicking that of the baseball, football, and hockey players who have been
spitting in their fields, rinks, and bullpens for eons. 12 years ago when i
was subbing in rural michigan high schools i remember seeing this on
occasion and couldn't believe it then. it's much more prevalent today.
