This question went to artseducators when the list was down. Followed a
couple of the answers for another kiln question...can the experts help with
this one.

What is the life time expectancy of a kiln fired 100 to 150 days a
year(school year) before the heating elements etc begin to pop out?

What brand of kiln do you recommend? Amaco? Skutt? Paragon? L&L?

We are looking to buy a new kiln because our old one is costing us hundreds
of dollars a year to repair (since I have been there probably $1000 or more)
- the heating elements keep popping out of the channels usually within the
first month of repair. The bricks are in good condition. The present kiln
is 6 to 10 years old...can't be sure of the age since it was purchased before
I came on the scene. (Did we get a lemon or are we doing something
wrong?...kiln is in a separate room and venting is adequate.)

Any advice would be appreciated.
