Have students write a story and then create a character or characters
from the story out of clay.

Have students do a bunch of gesture drawings. Choose one and draw it on a
piece of paper. Cut it out of the paper and put it on a half inch slab.
Cut it out. Create a background that will reinforce the movement and the
clay.

Study indiginous pot making. Examples can be taken from every culture on
the planet. create a pinch pot or coil pot or slab construction. Decorate
it according to one of the many cultures studied.
