Woody-
Want to know what happens when left brained people get hold of a right
brained activity?
Were going through our third certification process-
yep-already done two others
but were just not good enough yet.
Starting in Sept. we began with our philosophy of education.
Then we were told to write a course description ( specific and
progressive)for each class, each grade.
(I teach four classes each of 3, 4 and 5th grade-weekly, one seventh grade
wheel-daily; four times a year, and three HS classes in Elective Art I, II,
and III, every day.)
Then around October we had to do course mapping, with info of each lesson
taught throughout the year in each class and grade.
Now we need to do State Standards for each lesson.
All the new teachers aren't returning next year-(5)
and the veterans are burned out and grumpy.
And being a private school-
were paid 30% less than the local public school.
Morale is so low our floors never need sweeping.
You either LOVE what you do- or you quit.
All this paperwork has cost us the most important feature of teaching......
relationship with our students.
