That drives me crazy too -- I always ask my students about any other facts
they know about Van Gogh, and then when they are speechless I tell them about
the amazing book of letters he wrote to his brother Theo that beautifully
describe his process and thoughts on art. I suggest they read it to learn
more about the artist than the sensational snippet. (Pun intended!)
