Last week I went to a lecture of Dale Chihuly's (where he was also receiving
a Doctorate of Fine Arts from University of Hartford). What a truly amazing
man! Very down to earth, funny, happy, approachable....thankfully, the
opposite of the stereotype associated with artists. What gorgeous slides he
showed! And amusing asides. His glee at talking about placing his
sculptures in the canals of Venice and watching them float down, then paying
school boys to return them to him so he could place them in the canal over
and over. His new chandelier for the Bushnell Theater in Hartford, CT is a
