Re: worthless subs

Date: Wed Nov 07 2001 - 15:23:14 PST

I just had a sub yesterday because I was on a field trip. It was great, no
supplies gone and all materials were in place. Just a few newsprint
paintings done by student who were waiting for me and wasted a little
watercolor. She probably thought I would like them. I was surprised and
pleased to see the room left so orderly because I have had the other kind.
Subs do have it tough and they are picked upon by the students who think it's
a free period. When I subbed for a fellow teacher they tried every trick
known, out their seats doing nothing, playing dumb, bathroom tag, etc. So I
know how it feels, however supplies are precious and they should be the #1
priority for the sub to watch. Or have a movie and no supplies out.
