Hi Coleen:
I did Paper molas in H.S. about 4 or 5 years ago. Got good results,
though, some of the cut-out shapes tended to be contemporary media images
(Nike swooshes, the X Files "X", rock-band logos, etc.) rather than the goal
of having students do designs similar to the Panamanian ones. I used
construction paper of various colors in 18" X 12" size. We used exacto knives
and old drawing boards so the table tops would not be damaged. If I remember
right, we did 4 different layers and used Elmer's glue (little dots around
the edges. The classes enjoyed doing them. You may be referring to cloth
molas.
