Sometimes the best plans fizzle. I don't see a thing wrong with saying to
the kids--Hey, I thought this would be fun and would work, but some things
happened that we didn't expect. In fact, I'd cry out in mock horror--OH NO!
Our pumpkins have collapsed. How horrible!
Let's do something that won't take so long to finish. Then make something
that's a sure fire success. Kids can accept that we don't always know
everything,
and when they are immersed in something they love, they won't even worry
about the
great pumpkin disaster.
Laugh a lot!
