I'm job searching!

Date: Sat Nov 18 2000 - 13:26:42 PST

I am new to this talk group/mailing list, and I just wanted to let you
all know that I am seriously searching for a job teaching elementary, middle,
or high school art. I am certified to teach K-12 art in New York and
Nebraska, I received my B.A. in Studio Art from Wellesley College in
Wellesley, MA., and I received my M.S. in Art Education from Pratt Institute
in Brooklyn, NY. After finishing my master's in NYC, I worked as Programming
and Development Coordinator at Sony Wonder Technology Lab (NYC), I did
computer work and digital scanning at Morgan Stanley (NYC, I taught
elementary art for a year NE) and art, writing, and bookmaking for gifted
junior high and high school students for a summer (NE), and now I am working
as a Coordinator/Assistant in the Creative Services (Design) Group at Ernst
and Young (NYC). I am a member of the board of directors and one of the
co-creators of Gorilla Press, a children's publising company where children
write, illustrate and publish their own books. Also, I am currently
illustrating a children's story that I have written and that I intend to
publish (or at least try to!).
I have been looking for an art teaching job in and outside of NYC for a
while without luck. I would looooove to teach art, and am willing to teach
anywhere. It is my calling and my dream, and I feel so bad that I am not
getting to follow it! I feel that the arts foster self-esteem and
problem-solving skills, and give kids the rare opportunity to express and
represent themselves, their uniqueness. Yes, if anyone knows of any
vacancies or opportunities, please let me know! I would greatly appreciate
Thank you,
