Thanksgiving K and 1st

Date: Thu Nov 16 2000 - 15:06:51 PST

We watched a movie on the primary and secondary colors and I thought this up.
Work on recycled cake bottoms from the super market or have them draw a large
circle on a piece of white paper. Have them draw a blue circle and fill it
in. Then show them how to draw a turkey's head with a gaggle(sp?) in red.
Give the turkey yellow feet. Now show them how to put red, yellow, blue, and
combination colors of feathers only using the primaries. Have them draw tall
grass with blue and yellow and have them put a purple sky with a white moon.
Blue and red for the sky and leave the moon white. Kindergarten did this on
cake bottoms and first grade cut their circles out and put them on navy blue
paper. I gave them plastic eyes for their turkeys and had them write Happy
Thanksgiving on their blue paper. It was a good lesson and kept them busy for
45 minutes.
