mentality and conferences are tomorrow and the principal is out of town .I
very stressed. Any words of wisdom out there?
Do not go into sn irate situation without back-up. If the prin. is out get
the asst. prin. or your mentor or the custodian. Have documentation ready.
Make lots of copies. Copy your state standards and include. Explain that
you are NOT the same teacher and hold your ground. Insist on ONE AT A TIME
and make time for each parent. I had this happen to me my first year. How
dare I give out "B"? I had one child so racked with fear that she vomited
in my class. Al the parents came to me with"Mrs. Owens NEVER did this" I
explained that I was sure that she hadn't or I wouldn't have to do it now.
Gave copies of class ethics grades with explaination for deduction on each
and every one of those little "darlings" This was sixth grade. They will be
unhappy, but your class WILL change. I was very fortunate to have the
backing of our administration.
best of luck
