YES! It is difficult I agree. But you have to keep on them and be
consistant. I use several techniques. 1. thumbs up (or some other hand
signal) I do it whenever it gets too loud. (I have a very low loud
tollerance and I will do it four or five times a class period), I tell them
extacly what an inside voice is. NO one but your neighbor should be able to
hear you. The other thing, I use some sort of music (another discussion we
have been having) and I tell them if they cannot hear the music, then they
are being too loud. This gives them a way to monitor their own conversation.
It is hard. I stop and realized I have only seen these students 8-9 times
over two months....I just have to be consistant. But it really does work.

The most important thing....whatever you do...be consistant, keep doing it,
don't give up...about January....it will all kickin and you will be
amazed...all that hard work will pay off!!!
