hi all
I don't plan on jumping in to the fray and I respect anyone who just
plain votes( some complain and never vote!) But I thought it was
interesting that in our Sunday newspaper they focused on the candidates(
sorry just the "big two") and their opinions on art. Now I really don't
expect to change anyone's view on their candidate of choice, but here
is what journalists have found out-
Gore prefers Van Gogh, Cassat, Red Grooms, Chuck Close and Christo as
some of his fav. artists.
Bush prefers American Western art ( specifically- Tom Leas).
Gore is more predictable when it comes to the support of the arts,.
He has strongly defended funding of the arts and humanities. And this
time Gore is inventing his stand. He has taken lots of art classes as a
child. He currently likes to paint in watercolor. Tipper dabbles in
photography.
The Bushes prefers Mexican and Latino art and often draw attention to
unknowns. Bush's attraction to western art began when he met his wife.
Mr. Cheney's wife, has called for the abolition of the NEA.
Cheney, himself has voted against the NEA as a congressman.
Not much said bout Lieberman's view on the arts other than his stands on
monitoring violence and sex in the entertainment field.
Sorry guys, nothing on Nader's view on the arts. I'm in a swing state,
so the focus is on the main candidates.
