Re: Tissue paper mosaics

Date: Sun Nov 05 2000 - 17:16:55 PST

I have missed this list for the last month because of some difficulties with
my DSL and windows 98. I'm so glad to be back! If everyone has answered
your question already I apologize. My sister, who is also and artist began
tissue painting while earning an illustration degree at Rhode Island School
of Design. I do a simple method with my little ones (K-5). Make a glue
water mixture (elmers type), THIS SHOULD BE THIN ENOUGH TO PAINT WITH (OOPS!)
You apply glue mixture (about 1 part glue to one part water) and place a
piece of tissue. Then cover by patting on more of the glue mixture. I
usually have students draw with permanent black marker and then apply color.
This is fantastic with a really simple still life for grades 3-5. My sister
sometimes uses the technique in combination with newspaper and magazine
pieces, etc...
