Have much the same situation.
Today was one of those AHHA! days
It's so nice when even the @#$%^ kids will work and I can compliment them.
Despite whining about the value drawing they are beginning to 'get it" It's so
nice when that happens.
Have a shy quiet kid with mediocre skills and nooooooooeye contact who came in
extra time to work on a pen and ink.
He seemed so appreciative of any little bit of help and actually "got it"
despite the fact that I was teaching another class. It was GREAT and he felt
proud. ---------ME too
