ways to discuss it and activities to do. >>

In Missouri one of our State Agencies holds a Peace Poster contest. My
students turn out some wonderful posters on the subjects of helping one
another, being kind,
and other character traits that might lead to peace. The contest is in
celebration
of Martin Luther King Day and all winners usually show interaction of black
and whites interacting in a peaceful way - work - play. I had a first place
winner one
year and two second place winners last year. The discussions alone are worth
their weight in gold. One little boy who had called others of different skin
names on the playground seemed to be positively influenced by all this-
wonderful - he's
now a fifth grader and still holds his tongue even thought he hears racial
hate at home. For what its worth. Roberta
