My other request is to find a suitable residency programme to pursue
further research in my art work. I have an MA in Fine Art from 1997
and I concentrated mainly on 2D painting using photography and
photocopying. My most recent work has been a Schools project to
design, make and install a ceramic relief onto the wall of a Housing
Association in London, as part of our Millennium celebrations. I was
awarded a grant and have recently been honoured at the House of
Commons by a Millennium Fellowship by Simon Hughes MP, a man who is
is increasingly becoming involved with inner city regeneration
schemes here in London. For the project of which I am co-ordinator,
I have had to budget, design and co-ordinate the whole scheme. I did
think at one point that it might be interesting to do a project
between two schools, one there and one here, where students designed
a piece of work to be insalled in each others schools. Also perhaps
the designs could be communicated via the internet.
To sum up; firstly I have a flat to rent for four weeks in
July/August. Secondly I am hoping to come and do a Residency at
perhaps a school or another institution in the US. For this I would
like to do my own research work. Later on I would be interested in
doing another community project. I need to spend some time on my own
work because I haven't been able to do any painting etc since I
finished my MA. I would like to work with photoshop, ink-jet
printint onto specially prepared canvas and projection and
solarisation images. I would be happy to do tuturing and teaching as
I have experience in this area. I suppose I should mention my name!
I am Maggie Roberts and I have visiited the US many times before and
am familiar with Taos, Albuquerque areas. I look forward to hearing
from you!. Goodbye.
