plaster sculpture

My middle school students are working on small plaster sculptures. I was
wondering if anyone had good ideas about what kind of finish to use on
these to reduce the chalky feeling, and to help keep them from collecting
dirt and dust. I would like to keep them white or monochromatic. Thanks
