As a teacher of 5th and 6th artists I am changing my evaluation system a bit.
I loved the rubric...I mean it was easy...check check check.... but it
occured to me that students still don't have a grasp of the terms properly.
I have been giving them a self assessment paper In the self assessment they
have to tell me what kind of color scheme they used....or what is their focal
point is ...etc etc. you get the idea. I also have terms in there that they
need to define etc. Explanations of where they were successful and what they
would do differently are important. Often they are quite accurate in where
they needed to improve. They don't see it as a test...but they are annoyed
with it because it causes them to think more then they want too. They also
know that if they don't know the terms, they need to find out. SOmetimes I
add the rubric along with it.
