Thanks to everyone who responded to my query about fabric crayons. The t-shirts were new, and not washed before we ironed the designs on. I never thought about the sizing. I'm sure I never had problems before, because at the summer camps I taught, kids brought their own t-shirts or pillow cases to decorate, and they were very rarely new ones. I'll know better in the future.
