Living quilt and story illustration

Cathy,
If you find someone to fly over and photograph your living quilt, it might
also be fun for the kids to listen to a copy of Garrison Keillor's story--I
think it is entitled "The Living Flag"--where the townspeople don red, white,
and blue caps to form a living flag on Independence Day. In this story,
everyone keeps leaving the picture so they can go up and look down at it
themselves.

He's such a good storyteller, and I sometimes use his stories as a basis for
story illustration. An especially good one to play is "Bruno the Fishing
Dog". It's full of rich visual images, and it's pretty funny. There are
enough different scenes in it that each student can claim one scene for their
own, and they can be displayed in "order".
