'SNAP!' makes things like that I think. I'm thinking
of a rectangular object about the size of a cell phone
that converts your computer's visual output into the
format TVs, VCRs, etc. use.

There is Nothing that will extrapolate from a monitor to a screen.
What you're really looking for is a projector. It would
plug into the back of your
Unfortunately to get one that is bright enough (even
with the lights off) is starting at $2000 in the outside
world. What would be better would be if you have a AV
department (maybe in the auditorium?) and got the SNAP!.
Then you may be able to connect to the equipment they have there.

Another system I've seen used was in a Calculus class. A
line ran from the calculator to a tablet that would be placed on an overhead
projector. You may be able to find something similiar that will run from a
computer.
