Go to START > RUN and enter the word command
on the next screen enter this: date 1-1-00 Enter
if your computer is compliant, it will accept the date
if not, you will get the message: invalid date
that indicates you should go to the Microsoft site and install their new
Y2K fix.
If your computer accepted the date, type another line with today's
date: eg.,
date 5-2-99 Enter
(This resets your clock to today's date)
to exit the program type exit Enter
This test is from a programmer friend---I did it and got the invalid
date message. After downloading the Microsoft fix---I retried it and
the date was accepted!
Best wishes,
Jo
