How about this idea Amie:
Mosaic tile Cigar boxes
What you do is either collect broken or out of date ceramic tiles from tile
stores. You can also use broken or mismatched plates. Then collect cigar
boxes or any other suitable box or container and coat it with tile grout of
any color. Then simply place each tile where you want it to go. Then rub
grout over all the tiles carefully filling in all the gaps. Allow to dry
overnight. Then using a damp sponge, gently sponge off the group from the
tiles until all is washed off. Allow to dry several days and Dad has a box to
put his stuff in!
