Hi Gail------------------------------>

My art education career started at a Montessori School. If I were you, I would
go to Maria Montessori' s philophies about art in schools, and the "children's
house" theories for support. If this truly is a Montessori school, they should
respect that.

I believe that the application of knowlege in other subjects through art is
very valuable, but it seems that should be done outside of the designated "art
time."
Your children probably aren't getting an opportunity to express themselves
more personally. If they can't do that during art then its not really art
anymore...its just a tool to higher cognition...which is great, but only one
facet to the universe of art potentials. (If that made sense) What I am trying
to say is that Art is the door to so many levels of growth, and it seems like
a terrible waste for it to only be used in that one way. Maria Montessori
would not be pleased. Read some of her books, and tell them.

Let me know how it goes..........................................Dawn Malosh,
