Hi Gail and other kiln-folks,

We replaced an old manual kiln with a Skutt automatic last fall...I
honestly thought that the automatic was going to be a bit extravagant...but
from the advice of a friend (who also let me in on this list serve!) I
asked for the automatic; WOW! Its really been a load off..no pun intended!
About the down draft, the states each differ on venting regulations, in
Wisconsin the down draft and hood vents do not pass code, infact we had to
redo the existing vents system..I guess WI code only allows for vertical
vents without any bends...soooo I suggest you check with your engineering
depatment.

Happy Firing,
