Thank you Katherine G., for all those links ... I am thrilled to be spending
my summer researching and building curriculum for next year. I started at my
school last year and was appalled at the lack of art history and appreciation,
even supplies and materials. I am building from the ground up but I am
committed to making Visual Art a core subject in a well-rounded school
curriculum. I need to be armed to the teeth and get the parents on my
side.... for they will help raise additional money for the "extras".
We are a nation rich in technology, yet we are illiterate when it comes to the
Arts. I notice that here in So. Florida, it is usually the older people
from European countries that are the frequent visitors to Art Museums and
the Performing Arts Centers. Hardly a young individual. How sad we are to
emphasize technology over aesthetics and self-expression in Art!!!
