Hello. I'm new to this discussion group. I am a painter. I have studied art
in New York and have an art degree from l'Ecole des Beaux Arts in France yet I
have never taught art formally. Since I have read about the Getty Institute's
energy in art education, I am truly inspired to teach. I had been introduced
to the DBAE program's existence through a teacher friend and now it's ambition
is also becoming my own: to expose student's to art's potence and relevance in
all aspects of life.
Would someone be so kind to inform me of the path needed to be taken to become
a DBAE trained art teacher? I am very interested in teaching younger children
(Kindergarden - 6th grade). As I said, I am not a certified teacher but I am
passionate about art and I believe that its education is vital. I live in Los
Angeles where I believe they have considered to put more art into the
district's schools. Please advise me on how I can become seriously involved
in the DBAE movement. My e-mail address is Zoomzaam
. Thank you.
