I really do not think you can learn to throw by watching a video. There is a
tremendous amount of touch and feedback involved, and you don't knot you're
doing it right until you do it, and you never get it right without a live
critique. In my college pottery class we spent the first 4 weeks learning
raise a cylinder. You also have to learn how to get the walls and bottom just
the right thickness.

Be patient and wait for the class.
