I made an "Art Wheel of Fortune" for students who finish early. The wheel had numbers on it and the kids spin the wheel to see which activity they get to do. Each one is a variation of some form of creative work- many based on the Synectic books.

Things such as doing a wacky photo montage, a unique business card, a scribble drawing (how some kids get carried away with THAT!), inventing a dot-to-dot, etc..

The chance factor and the mysterious activities made for some good student interest, but the problem was once students found out which numbers were really fun, they began to cheat to end up with that number!

So now, I just hand out the ones that were the favorites, usually. I wish I would go back to the old way, because there were many neat things the kids haven't really had a shot at.
