I regard members of the Artsed Net family with great respect--again, we are
members of the same global community of artists and educators. But I don't
think it is fair that people who have other religious beliefs should be the
only ones allowed to air their views. They should also recognize that a
belief system such as Christianity does exist. Christians should be
allowed to air their views, just as much as Buddhists, Moslems, Hindus,
Jews, Taoists, and so forth are allowed air their views.
As artists and educators, we exercise freedom of expression. This means
that we should not stifle each other's freedoms. Just because someone
talks about Christianity, it doesn't give others with another set of
beliefs the right to put a stopper on that person's mouth, pen or keyboard.
After all, this venue we have is for INFORMATION SHARING and not for
forcing one's belief systems on another human being. Nor is it for
preaching, condescension or creating divisions.
We can not always agree in everything. We can discuss. We can debate.
Nevertheless, we should learn to recognize and appreciate our differences.
Let's give one another space to interact with one another, regardless of
religious beliefs. Therefore, we must not exclude Christianity in this
kind of forum.
Always with you in art education,
Courtney :) :) :)
